Capcom To Slow Down On HD Fighting Remakes

As much as gamers love when our favorite games get HD remakes, its obvious that between remakes, new games need to be made. In a thread on the official Capcom forums, senior vice president Christian Svensson explained some of the company’s plans for digital re-releases of old titles, HD remakes, and the digital release of titles from the current generation.

Speaking specifically about more Capcom HD remakes, Svensson said, “Sadly, I think we’ve probably run the course of feasible titles here given the drop-off we’ve seen in sales with each new introduction. It seems the novelty of such projects is wearing off even within just the fighting game community based upon the sales data of our last two launches.”

Svensson also said that re-releasing old PlayStation, PS2, etc. games digitally can be tough due to the approval filters any game would have to go through such as external licensing, emulation, etc.

The executive said that Capcom is working to bring current-gen titles to the digital realm, but on the PS3 in particular, this can be difficult. However, “It’s being done as a matter of the planned development on all forthcoming titles.”

Resident Evil 6 To Release Update for Game

Capcom has stated that there will be an update for Resident Evil 6. The update will including adding a new difficulty mode called “No Hope Left” and also adding a co op partner for the Ada Campaign. The update will also unlock the Ada Campaign from the start of the game. Players will be able to play the Campaign before starting any of the other three. Capcom had this to say about the Ada Updated Campaign, ”Said campaign was meant as a solo affair for Ms Wong, but odds are you’d like to play through it again with a pal – soon you can!”

New “DLC” Multiplayer Modes To Come To Resident Evil 6

This news was released via the Resident Evil 6  Facebook page that there would be three DLC modes that would extend the multiplayer mode. These modes will be called, Survivors, Predator, and Siege.  According to Capcom:

“Survivors Mode takes the classic solo- and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins.

In Predator Mode, one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players. The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Choosing the human side in Siege Mode will see players protecting a single NPC, while as a member of the enemy team, players will need to eliminate that same NPC. If the NPC is still alive at the end of the time period, the human team win.

Survivors, Predator and Siege modes will all support up to six players online and be played using maps from Mercenaries Mode.”

This is great to hear, especially for a game that already is said to have a long campaign, this adds more gameplay time. Resident Evil 6 will be released Oct 2nd. Do make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel, for a future video featuring Resident Evil 6 Midnight Release Launch.

Resident Evil 6 Has Been Released To The Public!

Actually…it has been stolen and released to the public. Last week, news got out that there were copies of Resident Evil 6 being sold in Poland. Capcom released a statement about the situation.

“At this time, all we can add is that it would appear this unfortunate incident is limited to a small quantity of stolen copies of the German USK PlayStation 3 version of the game.”

It is unfortunate that Capcom has to deal with this incident, but this case of stolen game releases has happened before. There has been no word of what action Capcom will take, but the unlucky early Resident Evil 6 players, may get more than they bargained for.
